Opened in December 2016 by Matteo Margiotta, originally from Rome, the restaurant was inspired by his deep-rooted love for Italian food and family traditions. Matteo wanted to create a place where people could gather around a table to share honest, comforting meals made with care and passion just like in his own family kitchen.

The restaurant’s name, “Pino,” pays tribute to Matteo’s father, whose love for food and wine deeply influenced him. Drawing from these familial inspirations, Matteo sought to blend the rustic charm of Italy with the vibrant food culture of Sydney. The venue’s warm, inviting interior features touches of home, like copper pots from his family kitchen in Rome, evoking a sense of nostalgia and connection.

At Pino’s, everything is made from scratch. Bread is baked fresh daily, pasta is lovingly crafted by hand, and the recipes reflect timeless Italian techniques and a modern culinary twist. Matteo’s vision was simple: to honour tradition while embracing the creativity and diversity of contemporary dining.
