We’re on the hunt for an experienced Head Pastry Chef to lead our pastry team. Your role will involve creating a variety of desserts, pastries, and sweet treats, with an emphasis on creativity and high-quality execution. What We’re Looking For:
Essential Skills & Experience:
- Full Australian working rights
- Minimum 2 years in a kitchen management role
- Strong background in Italian cuisine
- Experience in menu creation
- Food Handling Certificate
- Proven team management skills
- Knowledge of hospitality cost control measures
- Ability to work well under pressure
- Impeccable attention to detail and grooming standards
- Formal culinary qualifications with pastry experience
Preferred Requirements:
- Food Safety Supervisor Certificate
- First Aid Certificate
- Experience making fresh pasta
- Italian language skills (a bonus!)
- Venue opening experience
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare a range of desserts, pastries, and baked goods using both traditional and modern recipes
- Oversee the pastry section and collaborate with executive and sous chefs to ensure smooth operations
- Innovate and develop new dessert recipes to enhance the menu and captivate customers
- Perform quality control to ensure consistency in taste and presentation
- Decorate pastries to ensure visually appealing and creative displays
- Experiment with ingredients, techniques, and flavor combinations to stay ahead of trends
- Train and mentor junior staff, fostering growth and teamwork
- Monitor and manage stock levels for baking ingredients and communicate ordering needs
- Maintain equipment and ensure a clean, safe workspace, adhering to health and safety standards
- Work autonomously and collaboratively to achieve team goals
