Sydney Dessert Spots

Sydney Dessert Spots

Well, this was a tough one to only pick a few of our favourite dessert spots. Whether you’re after a pastry, something chocolate-y, deep-fried ice cream or perhaps the good ol’ milkshake, you’re sure to find a spot in this blog that gets your tastebuds going!

Milky Lane, Various Locations

From tantalising juicy burgers to over-the-top Insta worthy desserts, you’ll want to get your feet in the door (and make a booking!) at this iconic joint. The talented crew behind the scenes work hard at taking your everyday favourite sweets and turning them into the most creative, decadent, mouth-watering desserts you’ll ever lay your hands on. Did someone say, ‘Deep Fried Magnum Caramel Ego’? Milky Lane do love to use their deep fryer!

Max Brenner, Various Locations

I dare say, that you cannot call yourself a chocolate lover if you haven’t yet been to Max Brenner and overindulged in the incredible sweet, chocolate. Self-proclaimed as the very best dessert destination, Max Brenner Chocolate Bar is all about encouraging you to experience chocolate with all your senses. The menu includes an array of indulgent desserts ranging from waffles, crepes and fondues to sundaes, pizzas (yes you read that right, chocolate pizzas!!) and chocolate licks – just a small pot of melted chocolate that you can dip into and lick away. Need we say more?

Gelato Messina, Various Locations

When a gelato business has their own dairy farm that supplies them with their super creamy jersey milk, you know you’re in for some special kind of tastebud heaven. Gelato Messina well and truly sets the benchmark for gelato in Australia with 35 traditional flavours and 5 rotating weekly specials along with bespoke gelato cakes made by the Messina crew themselves. Speaking of the Messina crew, did you know that they also make their chocolate themselves, using the highest quality cacao they can get their hands on? I mean, they even juice real mint leaves (but how!?) to make their choc mint gelato. It’s no wonder they’re often described as Sydney’s best ice cream!

Sweet Belem, Petersham

Do yourself a favour and go and jump in the queue while you’re reading this, because if you’re a Portuguese tart lover (or any kind of pastry lover for that matter), you’ll want to get your hands on these daily made goodies before they sell out for the day. Located in the heart of little Portugal Sydney (Petersham), you’ll find this small family run Portuguese dessert haven specialising in traditional and modern Portuguese tarts and pastries including, but not limited to: croissants, milk bread, palmiers, birthday cakes, and my personal fav, the vanilla slice.

KOI Dessert Bar, Ryde

Buckle in, because you will see and taste desserts like you have never seen or tasted before! Owned by ex-MasterChef contestant Reynold Poernomo and his two brothers, Koi Dessert Bar arguably produces Sydney’s most indulgent desserts and exquisite cakes. The amazing space they’ve created allows you to watch the desserts being made in their commercial production facility, and if that makes you want to jump in learn how to make them yourself, you can! KOI runs regular Dessert Classes held by guest chefs as well as Reynold himself where you can learn how to make their signature creations.

So, what are you waiting for?
